We Rock After School

Thousand Oaks' We Rock After School Program: runs from school release through 6 pm 5 days a week. The program has limited space available at this time. There is a waiting list; if you are interested in signing up please call the Coordinator, Flora Keilch, at 883-6145, or email her at Flora_Keilch@berkeley.k12.ca.us. Those who are on the waiting list will be notified as spaces become available.

Our program is dedicated to providing a safe and structured environment for academic enrichment and social skills development. We provide care from 1:15-6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, on all days the school is open. One hour of our program is dedicated each day to the special needs of kindergartners, supporting their growth and adaptation to the new school environment.

Academic Support: One hour per day, Monday through Thursday, is dedicated to academic support. In Homework Center students are given assistance with homework, and 4th and 5th grade students also work with tutors through the Mentoring for Academic Success program.

Activities: The students in our program are offered a variety of engaging activities each day to keep them motivated about school. Through a grant from the California Nutrition Network, we offer cooking once a week, which rotates to allow participation for students of all grade levels. A member of our staff is also the Sport4Kids coach during the day, offering sports education during the after school hours. We also currently work with Crowden Center for Music in the Community, the San Francisco Early Music Society, and Studio Naga.

Athletics: In the 2008-2009 school year, We Rock After School Program has had athletic teams for the following sports: Football (Fall), Basketball (Winter), Track (Winter and Spring), and Soccer (Spring). For schedule information, please contact Flora Keilch.
